Question

When I try to upload a CSV to manually add some transactions, it fails saying "we can't upload everything from your file"

I have tried downloading .QBO files from my bank as well.  It says it uploads the transactions but they don't show up anywhere in my quickbooks online.

I have attempted to change the format several times and even just tried creating a file with just a single transaction in it.   Nothing seems to be working.   Any ideas?   My dummy single file was just this in excel CSV format:

DateDescriptionDebitCredit
02/10/2024aaaa50.45

This seems like such an easy task to do but it is so frustrating that it keeps failing.
I am missing about 3-4 months of transactions last year and updating the cards wasn't adding those transactions in so, I was trying to manually add them.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing difficulties with uploading your CSV file, SolkosBdunc. We appreciate you taking some troubleshooting steps to resolve this issue, and I'm here to help.

The issue may occur if the transactions in your CSV exceed 1000. Try reducing the count and attempt to upload again. If the problem still persists after reducing the transactions. Please check the file for any extra characters and ensure it's in the correct format.

Here are few things to look for:

  • Currency symbols and commas: it is best to keep the amounts column as simple as possible.
  • Special characters in the bank description can prevent you from importing your file. Look out for these and remove them before uploading the file again.
  • Check the date format to ensure it matches your chosen one at the mapping stage.
