Where can I find the QBO desktop app to download

    I've just got the link for you to download the QBO Desktop app, janineilliano.

     

    You can open this link to begin the process: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/apps/. Scroll down to the Get the QuickBooks Mac or Windows App section, and then click the Free Download button.

     

    After the download is complete, you'll see a shortcut icon for QBO on your screen. Simply click it and log in using your username and password, and you're good to go.

        When opening, the Desktop app says that it "will not be updated after April 21, 2021" suggesting that it is being discontinued by Intuit as of that date, and that all customers will need to use the browser version   The links on the message provide no further guidance nor does there appear to be any "news" or articles that address this mysterious message.    If that is the case, you may NOT want to find and download the "app" and learn to live with that method of access. . . . . . .

          I just happen to come across this app and I love it.  Why discontinue?

          I'm happy to hear that you're loving the desktop app version of QuickBooks Online, lapoore.

           

          We've discontinued the app due to limited use. You can continue to use our system by logging into your account via a web browser.

          I realize the app support is discontinued but I really prefer to use the app.  I have a new laptop and cannot find a link to download the app.  Is there still a legitimate link to download the app?

          I'm having the same problem. Why is it so difficult to download the desktop app? I have qbo but I want to download the app so I don't always have to use the browser

          Good day, @pete131. I understand the convenience of using the QuickBooks Online Desktop app to access your company files. Allow me to share the steps with you on how to download the app seamlessly.

           

          When downloading the QuickBooks Online desktop app, you'll need a Windows 64-bit computer and need to be a QuickBooks Online subscriber or an accountant with a QuickBooks Online Accountant.

           

          Note: If you’re switching from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online, you can select Download the app after you upload your data. Skip to step 3 below.

           

          To download the data, follow the steps below:

           

          1. Sign in to your QuickBooks Online account. 
          2. Go to the Gear icon ⚙. Then select Get the Desktop app.
          3. Depending on your settings, you might see the app install automatically. If not, QuickBooks will prompt you to save the .exe file. Click this link QuickBooks Online desktop app.
            •  If asked, choose where you want to save the file and select Save. Open the QuickBooks Setup file to install.
          4. A shortcut to the app gets installed on your desktop. After you install the app, it should open automatically. If it doesn’t, open the app from the shortcut. 
          5. On the sign-in screen, enter your user ID and password. Then select Sign in. 
          6. If you see more than one QuickBooks Online company, select the company you want to open. Note: If there isn't a QuickBooks Online company linked to your user ID, an error message will display.
          7. The first time you use the desktop app, you’ll see an option to select how QuickBooks is displayed on the main homepage, (you can change this later).
          • If you switch from QuickBooks Desktop and want a similar view, select Yes, let’s go. 
          • If you’re already familiar with QuickBooks Online, select No, I already know how to use QuickBooks Online. Then select your company, and you're all set.
