Hi there, scott10

Good to see you here in QuickBooks Community. Allow me to help and addressed your concern about Memorized Transaction in QuickBooks Onine (QBO).

The memorized transaction is only available in QuickBooks Desktop. However, if you're using QBO Essentials and Plus, you have  the option to set recurring transactions for customers and vendors (such as checks, bills, invoices, sales receipts, estimates, etc).

To create a recurring template, here's how:

  1. Select the Gear Icon
  2. Under Lists, select Recurring Transactions.
  3. Click New
  4. Select the type of transaction to create, and select OK.
  5. Enter a Template name
  6. Choose a Type — Scheduled, unscheduled or reminder.
  7. Enter the necessary information.
  8. Once done, select Save Template

For additional reference, you can check this article for the details on how to create templates for recurring transactions.

If you need further assistance with the steps from our live support, you can contact them through this link: Get help with QuickBooks Online.

That's it! Please know that I'm just a post away if you have any other concerns about recurring transaction on QBO. I'm always here to help you out.

I was really hoping memorized sales receipts were in QBO.

I'm recording sales receipts for a monthly subscription service.  New clients appear each month and existing clients also drop the service.  Over time, the memorized transaction approach will result in a bunch of sales receipts generated for clients that have dropped the service.

The ideal scenario for me would be:

1) I see a payment has arrived via the feed from the bank.

2) I enter the name of the client in the sales receipt field and all the other information is auto-filled.

Any suggestions?

Nice to have you in the Community, EdStanfield.

Memorized transaction is unavailable in QuickBooks Online (QBO) . You have the option to set a recurring transaction for your customers and vendors. You can do to this for any transactions except bill payments, customer payments, and time activities.

I'll show you how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Under Lists, choose Recurring transactions.
  3. Click New.
  4. Click the drop-down and select the transaction type , then click OK.
  5. Enter a Template name.
  6. Select a Type - Scheduled, Reminder or Unscheduled.
  7. Fill out the necessary information.
  8. Click Save template.

I added an article about recurring transactions for your reference.

I'm about ready to scrap this qb crap.  I specifically told the woman on the phone that I needed the memorized transaction list most of all.  But she still sold me the simple plan.  Then I spent almost 3hr trying to shrink the file to merge from desktop to online it was only supposed to merge data from January forward well its all still there complete waste of time and money

12mths desktop had everything 380 dollars 12mths of simple that doesn't have what you need 380$ essential is almost 600$ a yr. Talk about a scam

I agree.  I have used desktop QB for years and the memorized transactions helped me see easily who had paid rent/CAM/insurance, etc and who hasn't.  I was able to track installment payments easily  I am completed lost with QB online and it will take me hours if not days to transfer the information to a spreadsheet to monitor.  Much more work for me.  And to do this during tax season makes it even worse.  I will definitely look for a new bookkeeping site in once this subscription ends.
