I just downloaded transaction from my bank so that I could review and categorize them, but they would not load into the window and I received a "Something's not quite right Sorry, an unexpected error has occurred. Please try again." error message.  Why is this happening and how do I fix it?

Let's perform a troubleshooting to get rid of this error message, TFPU.

What particular transaction are you attempting to establish? We have checked, and there haven't been any cases about this error message that have been reported. Let's use a private or incognito window to access QuickBooks Online (QBO) to more effectively determine whether or not there is a browser issue. Next, attempt to create the transaction once more.

Here's how you can access the private browser:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

If you're experiencing issues while browsing a website, we can try clearing your browser's cache. This will delete any temporary files stored on your browser and free up some space on your device. You can also perform this task on other supported browsers.

If the issue persists, we can refresh the website preferences on your program by clearing Intuit-specific cookies. Just go to Step 2: Clear Intuit-specific cookies from your browser section in this article: Clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online.

I've added a link here so that you can learn how to reconcile your accounts so they always match your bank and credit card statements: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

Keep me posted if you need a hand with creating recurring transactions or any QBO-related issues. I'll be here to help. You have a good one.

Incognito mode and clearing the browser cache proved unsuccessful for me.  Made no difference, at all.  I wound up doing a manual download of a QBO file from my bank and then a manual upload into Quickbooks Online.  This allowed my transactions to show up w/out the error message, but also meant that I had to figure out which transactions I had already made a decision on.  I had to do the manual process for about three days because I kept getting the same "Something's not quite right" error message.  But then, all of a sudden, for some unknown reason, after running the online sync things began working as normal again.  I wish I knew what happened and how it wound up resolved.  This has been very frustrating, and thus I have no confidence that the issue won't show up and disappear again for seemingly no reason.

Retracting my comment about "all of a sudden...things began working as normal again."  I am still getting the error.

@TFPU

Try opening your QBO account on any private/incognito browser.

This isn't the experience that we want you to encounter while using your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account, Jamyy.

For us to provide an appropriate resolution to the problem that you've encountered, we need to ask you a few questions.

 Firstly, can you specify what kind of bank account you've used?

Additionally, what specific errors have you encountered while using it?
