Only showing on some bank transactions.  Other transactions are posting properly.

I can help you with categorizing your transactions, krazedbuilds.

The error you're having when trying to categorize your transactions can be caused by the piled-up cache in your regular browser. It stores temporary internet files from your browsing history. As it collects too many files, it can cause some issues in your account.

I've got some steps to help fix this issue. First, sign in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account using a private browser. This helps isolate the issue since it doesn’t store data in the cache.

Here are the following keyboard shortcuts:

  • Safari: Command + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: CTRL + Shift + P
  • Google Chrome: CTRL + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge: CTRL + Shift + N

If it works, here's how to clear cache and cookies to fix issues when using QuickBooks Online. Restart your browser right after. You can also try to check with other supported browsers (Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari, Microsoft Edge) if the steps above don't work.

Here's more information about categorizing and matching online bank transactions in QuickBooks Online to add them to the right accounts.

After categorizing your transactions, you can reconcile them to ensure your books are accurate and there aren't any duplicate transactions: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online

I'm getting this "Select an account for this transaction" error when trying to categorize transactions in my PayPal bank account, even though a valid account (Inventory) has been selected for each one. This is happening for 6 transactions in the queue, although other transactions in this account were able to be categorized without error. I've tried running Quickbooks in a Private Safari Browser, and installed a fresh instance of Chrome to try it there as well, but I get the error in every instance. I've been categorizing these transactions imported from PayPal for years without any issue until these six ones right now. It seems like either QBO issue since my testing suggests it isn't a browser problem.  Please advise!

Hello there. Thank you for sharing your concern here. I see you have encountered an issue when trying to categorize online bank transactions linked to your account. I've got you! I have here some information relating to this issue.

We currently have an open investigation (INV-97458) into this concern. Your patience on the matter is well appreciated. Our engineers are working hard to find the best solution to rectify this error.

You can create the deposit in QBO and match them as a workaround. Or, you can select a non-asset type account when categorizing.
