Question

Why are there duplicate bank images importing for one bank feed transaction? If I delete the duplicates, it deletes the image off of the transaction.

The bank transaction only shows once with attached imported images. I have several unlinked bank images that are duplicates. If I delete the duplicates, the images that are attached to the imported bank transaction also delete.

Good to see your post here, powellptatreasur.

Adding transactions instead of matching them will create duplicate entries. Let's fix this by clearing the duplicate transactions from your For Review tab in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

You have the option to exclude those transactions so you can still have them at a later time or permanently delete them.

Here's how to exclude transactions:

  1. In the Banking page, put a checkmark on the box of the duplicate transactions.
  2. Click the Batch actions drop-down menu.
  3. Select Exclude Selected.

The excluded transactions are listed on the Excluded tab for reference or review.

You may find this article handy to learn more about the process of excluding downloaded transactions in QBO.

If you wish to permanently delete them, you can follow the steps below:

  1. Go to the Excluded tab.
  2. Select transactions to delete.
  3. Click the Batch Actions.
  4. Hit Delete.

I do not have a duplicate bank transaction nor am I adding it manually. The bank transaction happens once. The images associated with that transaction is happening three times. So if I have a bank deposit of $100 with four checks in that deposit the bank transaction comes in as $100 to be reviewed. I have not manually entered a deposit for $100 either, just using the bank feed. The transaction comes through and the deposit slip image as well as the four checks are attached to the transaction, but then if I look in my attachments section, the images of the checks and deposit slip appear two more times each. If I'm in the transaction screen to confirm the bank transaction, the images are attached, but they are showing additionally in the unlinked spot another two times each. If I delete the duplicate images in the attachment screen, the images that are attached to the bank transaction show an error if you click on the link and I no longer have access to the check/deposit slip image in QB.

That behavior is indeed strange, powellptatreasur.

There are times that your browser becomes full of site data causing problems in QuickBooks Online. To check if this is a browser-related issue, you can open your QuickBooks using an incognito or private window. This can help us rule out any cache-related issue that might've caused the problems. Use these shortcut keys to open it:

  • Google Chrome: Press CTRL + Shift + N.
  • Safari: Press Command + Shift + N.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Press CTRL + Shift + P.

If it's now working well, you'll have to go back to your regular browser and clear its cache. This will delete the accumulated junk files and enhanced your browsing experience.

When you're done clearing the cache, close any browser instances to complete the process.

Also, make sure you're using a supported and updated browser for QuickBooks Online.
