Let's fix the negative difference with your reconciliation process to ensure everything matches your bank statement, jandjpainting.

These are the following reasons that your ending balance does not match your actual bank statement:

  • Someone entered an incorrect ending balance at the start of the reconciliation.
  • There are missing or duplicate transactions in QuickBooks.
  • Someone entered transactions into QuickBooks that haven't cleared your bank yet.

To fix it, let's start by reviewing the opening and beginning balances of your account.

If everything's accurate, proceed with ensuring the ending balance you entered is correct. Here's how:

  1. Select Edit info in the Reconciliation window.
  2. Review the Ending balance and Ending date.
  3. Check your bank statement. Make edits as needed.
  4. Once done, tap Save.

If there's still a difference in QuickBooks, move on to the process in Step 3 - Step 7, outlined in this article: Fix issues at the end of a reconciliation in QuickBooks Online.
