Question

Why does Banking->Banking not show all bank accounts?

When I am in Accountant view, if I Navigate to Banking->Banking, it only shows me bank accounts I have linked to bank feeds.

I currently have four bank accounts, all of which show up in my chart of accounts. Two of them are "manual," in that transactions are only posted to them in QuickBooks Online (i.e., they are not connected to a bank feed). Those two do not show up when I navigate to Banking->Banking. I have to go to my chart of accounts to find them, or I can switch to "Business view" , navigate to "Business overview", and there is a "Bank accounts" widget which shows all my accounts.

Both of these are rather inconvenient. How can I get all my bank accounts to show up under Accountant view, when I navigate to Banking->Banking?

Thank you for taking your time posting in the Community, @JoshBeall. Let me share some details about the reason behind not having your unlinked bank accounts viewed on the Banking page in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

The bank accounts that are shown on the Banking page are the linked accounts when using the Accountant view. It also shows the unlinked accounts so long as you've imported transactions.

This is what it looks like:

However, you can import test transactions on your unlinked accounts to view the unlinked banks on the Banking page while using the Accountant view.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Settings and select Import data.
  2. Choose Bank data.
  3. Choose the following data to upload into QBO:
    • .csv
    • .qfx
    • .qbo
    • .ofx
    • .txt
  4. Click the select files hyperlink or drag and drop the file the Import cloud icon. Then, select Continue.
  5. Locate the unlinked bank account. Then, map the column and data setup of your file.
  6. Tick the boxes beside the transactions you want to upload and click Continue.
  7. There will be a pop-up notification that will show "QuickBooks will import *** transactions using the fields you chose. Do you want to import now?" choose Yes.

Moreover, I see that this will benefit other users as well. I encourage you to send a suggestion by clicking on the Gear icon and choosing Feedback.

I'm also adding this article you can use in the future to know how to automatically categorize your transactions and match them with your actual bank statements: Set up bank rules to categorize online banking transactions in QuickBooks Online.

It will be my pleasure to assist you further if you have other questions or concerns about QuickBooks Online. Please don't hesitate to let me know in the comment section. Take care!
