Question

Why does my boa cash rewards credit card pop up as 2 separate accounts in quickbooks one as cash rewards and one as credit? Is there a way to fix it?

When the transactions pull from bank of america they record as 2 different accounts within quickbooks and I have to transfer the balance of the cash rewards to the credit card to get it to reconcile correctly.

I can help you with organizing your accounts and reconciling them right after, @kentriolinda.

The information downloaded in the bank register is always determined by how the bank shared it with QuickBooks. You must check with your bank on how they send those transactions to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account.

If the transactions are downloaded to one account, connect only that account (parent account). If the transactions download to the individual accounts, connect the subaccounts and not the parent account.

If you have several subaccounts under your account, you'll have to create a parent account and then have each individual card set up underneath as subaccounts.

Refer to the following article for more information about setting up bank and credit card accounts and their subaccounts: About bank or credit card subaccount setup.

After organizing, you can now reconcile these accounts. Check out this article for detailed guidance: Reconcile an account in QuickBooks Online.

You'll also want to run a reconciliation report after the process is complete. Here's an article on how you can do it: How do I view, print, or export a reconciliation report?.

I'm always here if you need further help with your bank and credit card accounts. Just let me know by leaving a reply below. Keep safe and have a wonderful day!
