Why is my bank register showing negative with some transactions showing as a payment and a deposit?

I am able to reconcile every month with no issues,  however the bank register is showing a negative balance.  Some transactions are showing as both a payment and deposit.

I have explanations for the negative balance you see in your bank account, cbcbaseballtreas. Let's resolve the duplicate record of your bank deposits and ensure your register indicates correctly.

When you categorize payments from the For review tab, they will appear in the Deposit column of the account register. Since these deposits are also displaying as Payment, review the Account selected.

We can double-check that you have chosen the correct income account for your deposits, rather than the bank account where you plan to put the transactions. Doing so will prevent duplication in your account register. Please refer to the screenshots below for a visual guide.

Since the transactions have already been added to your register, you'll need to undo them from the Categorized tab so that they reappear in the For Review tab. Here's how to do it:

  1. Go to the Banking menu and pick the Banking tab (Take me there).
  2. Choose your bank account, then go to the Categorized tab.
  3. Select the transaction to Undo under the Action column.
  4. Once the transactions are transferred back to the For Review tab, use the correct income account, then click Add.
