Why was import styles removed form labs? This is an immensely useful feature with no other workaround unless you happened to turn the feature on before 6/29/21.

Without it, there is no other way to customize the rigid forms in QBO.

Thanks for getting back to this thread, @mricheson-riches. Let me chime in and provide further details about the import style option in QuickBooks Online.

The Import Styles feature was disabled Last July 1st. Any company that has not enabled Import Styles from QB Labs after 6/24/2021 will no longer be able to enable it. Any existing QBO companies with the feature are currently not affected and will continue to have access. In the future, there are plans to completely remove this feature from all QBO companies.

Alternatively, we still have some great templates you can make use of when customizing your invoice. You can utilize the footer options and used other spaces for things like signatures. Otherwise, you can look for 3rd party apps to create your own invoices templates.

If you need further details, feel free to contact our support team once they are available.

Additionally, let me attach this resource to help you personalize and add specific info to sales forms: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Feel free to get back to us if you have other questions about import style in QuickBooks. I'll be around to help you again. Stay safe and take care.

Let's perform some troubleshooting steps, mricheson-riches.

The Import style option is already added in the Custom forms styles page of the system. You don't have to turn it on in the QuickBooks Labs page. Let me show you how:

  1. Click the Gear icon.
  2. Select Custom form styles.
  3. At the upper-right, click the New style drop-down and you'll see the Import style option.

If you're still unable to see a way to import your own template, we can perform a few browser troubleshooting steps. There are times that the browser is full of frequently accessed internet resources, thus causing websites, like QuickBooks Online to respond weirdly. You can try logging into your QBO account using a private browser to verify if the missing option is caused by a browser-related issue.

To use a private browser, here's how:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Option + P

If this works, you can clear your browser's cache so the system can start fresh. If you get the same result, I recommend switching to a different browser.

Thanks Catherine, unfortunately, I was unable to see "Import style" under the "New style" menu.  I tried in private browsing (Chrome) and in a different browser (Edge) with a cleared history.  No luck in either.

I agree.  Why would you remove options???  QB templates are not what our company wants to use.  Our invoices and estimates are a reflection on our company.  To be forced to use them is upsetting.  Please let me know if you ever put that option back into your software.  Thank you for listening.

Thanks for getting involved with this thread, Lori944.

If you had your Import Styles feature enabled in QuickBooks Labs before 6/25/2021, it will still be accessible and usable in QuickBooks.

Here's how:

  1. Use the Gear icon.
  2. Go to Custom form styles.
  3. Click New style.
  4. Select Import style.

  5. Upload your DOCX file and follow the presented steps.

In the event it wasn't enabled before 6/25/2021, you won't be able to turn it on. If you'd like to submit feedback about the option to enable Import Styles being removed from QuickBooks Labs, you can use the steps in AbegailS_'s post to submit it to our Product Development team. Your feedback's definitely valuable to Intuit. It will be reviewed and considered in future updates. You can stay up-to-date with the latest news about your product by reviewing Intuit's Product Updates webpage.

Please feel welcome to send a reply if there's any additional questions. Have a wonderful Thursday!

Your response tends to blame the customer for not knowing back in 2021 that I was going to need to upload new custom forms in 2023.  I am not responsible for your company's decision to take away options that are needed.  This is not the first time you've done this to us.  If anybody asks me what accounting software to use, you can be sure it won't be QB!
