Question

Why won't Shopify sales channel connect? It keeps saying "Something unexpected happened and we can’t connect to Shopify."

"Note from Shopify
To complete this connection, sign in to Shopify in the pop-up window. If you encounter a blank screen after you sign in, close the pop-up window and immediately select Try again on this page."
I've signed into Shopify and get the above message and this one. I've tried to connect my store multiple times and still have the same message.

There are no current investigations regarding the error message you're experiencing, customcrafts.

As it's possible that the error is caused by a temporary browser issue, I can guide you through browser troubleshooting steps to help resolve it.

First, sign in to your QuickBooks Online (QBO) account through your browser's incognito mode. Here's how:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Shift + ⌘ + N

After this, connect your Shopify sales channel once more. When entering your info for your sales channel, ensure that all information entered is accurate. For the detailed steps in connecting your Shopify sales channel, you can refer to this article: Connect a sales channel with Commerce in QuickBooks Online.

If this works, proceed to clear your browser's cache. This will help the program run optimally and avoid future issues. You can also use other devices and supported browsers to ensure everything works as expected.

Once the issue is resolved, let me add this article on how Commerce transactions are automatically categorized: Understand how Commerce transactions are categorized QuickBooks Online.

We'll be here in the Community if you have updates regarding the error message you encountered when connecting your Shopify sales channel to QBO. We're committed to offering ongoing support.
