Question

Will my transactions from the previous (2023) year populate after reconnecting my bank account? Somehow my bank disconnected and now I can only see 2024 transactions.

I've reconnected the bank account by logging back into my account via username and password after clicking "fix it now". I believed this would pick the transactions back up where they left off in 2023 however all transactions have been removed from my QuickBooks account and I can only see 2024 transactions starting from January.

I also attempted to upload all of the transactions manually but my bank only provides statements in .pdf format, which is not supported by the QuickBooks platform.

I am trying to generate an accurate profit & loss statement, but without this bank account's transactions I will not be able to do this. Please help.

Thanks for taking the time to share your concern here in the Community.

Let me provide some information on downloading transactions after reconnecting your bank account to QuickBooks Online (QBO). I'll also share how you can import the PDF file provided by your bank into QBO.

Different banks have different guidelines regarding downloading transactions. Some can provide the last 90 days of transactions, while others can go as far back as 24 months. It's possible that your bank only allows a certain number of months, which is why only your 2024 transactions are showing up. However, there is a way to manually import your transactions into QuickBooks. Since you mentioned that your bank only provides a PDF file, you'll need to convert it to a CSV file format. You can use third-party applications to help you with this conversion.

Before uploading the file to QuickBooks, make sure it is in the correct format. Once you have the file ready, you can follow these steps to upload it to QBO manually.

  1. On the left navigation panel, click Transactions.
  2. On the Bank transactions tab, click the Link account dropdown.
  3. Select Upload from file.
  4. Import the file. Then, press Continue.
  5. Choose the account you want to upload transactions into. Then, click Continue.
  6. Follow the onscreen instructions to match the columns on the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks and click on Continue.
  7. Select the transactions you like to import. Then, select Continue.
  8. Click Yes, and then Done.

You can check out this article for more detailed information on manually uploading transactions to QuickBooks: Manually upload transactions into QuickBooks Online.

Then, once you have successfully imported your transactions, you'll need to match and categorize them to ensure they're under the correct categories. Finally, you can proceed to run your desired reports to stay on top of your business.
