Question

Client appears to have linked the same bank account twice on the system and bank transactions have been imported in duplicate. Is there is a quick way to delete one set?

I'm here to help you remove duplicate transactions and unlink bank accounts to ensure accurate imports in your client's QuickBooks Online (QBO), Rosemarie59.

First off, you can batch-exclude downloaded transactions if these are duplicates. Here are the steps you can follow:

  1. Go to Transactions and select Bank transactions.
  2. Choose the bank account with duplicate transactions.
  3. Click the For Review tab, and select all duplicate transactions by checking the boxes next to them.
  4. Select Exclude.
  5. From the Exclude tab, select all excluded transactions and click Delete.

After removing the duplicate transactions, disconnect one of the duplicate bank accounts to prevent future duplicates. Here's how:

  1. Go to Transactions, then Bank transactions.
  2. Click the tile for the bank account.
  3. Select the pencil icon and then click Edit account info.
  4. Click the Disconnect this account on save checkbox.
  5. Tap Save and Close.

Additionally, we encourage you to reconcile your client's accounts in QBO regularly. This helps monitor their income and expense transactions and detect possible errors accordingly.

Feel free to ask if you have any additional questions about deleting duplicate transactions in QBO. I'll be here to help. Keep safe.
