Keeping your bank connected to QuickBooks is our priority, Cathal. I'll offer insights into resolving issues with bank connections in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

Acquiring insight into the key factors will significantly enhance your troubleshooting efforts and improve the likelihood of successfully connecting your bank with QuickBooks Online.

Here’s an overview of the critical elements to consider about unsuccessful bank connections:

    • Your bank may not support connectivity for all account types (e.g., differentiating between personal and business accounts).
    • Your bank might not be a participating bank with QuickBooks.
    • Ensure you’re using the precise banking login URL by searching for it.

If you continue to experience issues despite confirming the details mentioned above, I recommend seeking further assistance from your bank. Here's a simple guide on how to request support from your bank within QuickBooks Online (QBO):

    1. Type your bank or URL in the Search field.
    2. Click on Still can't find your bank? Or Request support from your bank.
    3. Input your bank’s website in the field provided and click Request.

Furthermore, review your account settings for any notifications or alerts regarding updates from your bank’s website. Specifically, look for announcements concerning any new security requirements. Being informed about these changes is crucial, as they can directly impact your ability to connect and sync your accounts with QuickBooks Online.

For a more comprehensive understanding of this process, please refer to the following article: Find your bank or credit card account when you connect to online banking

While awaiting a resolution on your bank request, you can manually import your bank transactions into QBO:

    1. In your QBO account, go to Transactions and select Bank Transactions.

    2. Click on the blue tile Select the Link account dropdown and then Upload from the file.

    3. Choose Drag and Drop or select Files and select the file you downloaded from your bank. Then, select Continue.

    4. In the QuickBooks Account dropdown, click the account to upload the transactions. Then, Continue.

    5. Follow the onscreen steps to match the columns on the file with the correct fields in QuickBooks.

    6. Once done, select the transactions you'd like to import and select ContinueThen, click Yes.

    7. When you've accepted your transactions, select Done.

For step-by-step instructions, refer to this guide: Manually upload transactions into QBO.

Once your transactions are imported, you can match and categorize them in QBO to avoid duplicates.
