I need the help of a Quickbooks Accounting account holder to delete past reconciliations?

I made some changes to entries and tried to go back on reconciliation and change the closing balance and end date on reconciliation and in the process made a major mess. QBO is closing shop in India and they won't accept a new accountnat account for me to do this job.

I have been on chat for hours and can't find a solution. Please help.

Hello there, @thirdinrev.

 

Let me help share and walk you through the steps on how you can undo reconciled transactions in QuickBooks Online.

 

When the announcement was made, communications has been made and continuously sent through email and the discontinuation is extended until April 30 next year. This gives you time in downloading your company data.

 

Since a new accountant account can no longer be created from scratch, it is recommended to undo and redo your account reconciliation from the latest to the oldest session where you've identified the discrepancy. It may take a lot of work but rest assured, it'll help you determine why your account reconciliation is off and fix it accordingly.

 

Transactions that have been successfully reconciled will show the R ( Reconcile) status in your bank register. Let's remove them from your bank transactions.

 

  1. Go to Accounting.
  2. Select Chart of Accounts.
  3. Find your bank account from the list of accounts.
  4. Under ACTION, select View register.
  5. Remove the reconciliation status of the transactions in question.

 

However, I also recommend contacting an accountant near you. It is correct, one of the features can undo your reconciliation in one go with their QuickBooks Online Accountant account.

@JonpriL Thank you for taking the time to respond.

 

Yes, I sign up with different accounting software since QBO will be closing in April 2023. But I wanted to import clean books to the new platform.

A major error of judgment I made was when I went in and tried to reconcile the bank records for the month of Feb 2021 and put in the ending balance of Feb 2021 but the opening balance as of March 2022.

 

It was very foolish of me to assume I could go back and change the reconciliation that way by changing the ending date. I was on chat for a very long time today with the QBO specialist who asked me to find anyone who has a QBOA account in India only to find they had discontinued that service also in India LAST year.

 

Going back and removing reconciliation in each transaction of discrepancy is bound to cause errors.

 

I was wondering if you or anyone reading this knew anyone using QBOA who could help me delete the past few months' reconciliations.

I can guide you in finding a QBO PraAdvisor in your area that can help you undo your reconciliations. However, if we're unable to find one, the best option is to correct your balance by changing the date of the affected transaction. Then, redo the reconciliation of the month where it belongs. Always have your bank statement handy so you can compare your transaction list.
