On the Dashboard the bank balance is correct but the ending balance is WAY wrong!!  Like by $700k.  How do I fix this?  I have reconciled the bank statements and that is all correct.

Thanks for visiting the Community, @JCV1.

I have an idea of why your QuickBooks and bank balance isn't the same. The beginning balance or the opening balance in QuickBooks should match the beginning balance and date on your bank statements. If these don't match, don't worry. You can check on the following causes below and work from there.

  • Review your downloaded transactions that are not reconciled. Unreviewed will affect your opening balance.
  • Review your discrepancy report. Changes in transactions will affect your beginning balance.
  • If someone edited a reconciled transaction or moved it to another account.
  • Unreconciled transaction in the register.
  • Someone added this transaction to a past reconciliation on accident.
  • Deleted transaction.

In your case, you'll want to start reviewing the downloaded transactions that are still unreviewed in the bank feeds center. From there, you can identify if these are the amount that sums up your $700k discrepancy.

Here's how to get there.

  1. Go to the Banking menu, and then Banking at the top.
  2. Highlight the bank account in question.
  3. Click the For Review tab and verify each transactions. See image below.

After verifying the unreviewed transactions, you can leave them in the bank feed center for your next reconciliation schedule or exclude them if they're duplicate. For other causes and its recommended steps, please refer to this guide: Fix beginning balance issues if you've reconciled the account in the past QuickBooks Online.
