TI get this message, but I have a US bank and a US account.  To enable connections to banks with different currencies, you will need to upgrade to QuickBooks Online Essentials or Plus.

Hello there, Pamela.

You might need to use the Multicurrency function when connecting a bank account that uses a different currency than your home currency. And these are only available in QuickBooks Online Essentials and Plus

If you're using the QBO Simple Start version, consider upgrading to QBO Essentials and Plus. Here's how:

  1. Sign in as a primary or company admin.
  2. Go to the Gear icon at the top.
  3. Select Account and settings.
  4. In the left menu, select Billing & subscription.
  5. Make sure your payment info is up to date.
  6. In the QuickBooks Online section, select Upgrade your plan.
  7. Review the available plans and then select Choose plan.
  8. Follow the on-screen steps to upgrade your plan.

For more details in managing your QuickBooks plan, see this article: Upgrade or downgrade your QuickBooks Online subscription.

Once done upgrading, you can turn on multicurrency and connect your US bank account.
