Caregiver problems

Are there any other Home Care or Home Health companies out there? 

 

I have been struggling with finding good quality caregivers who want to work. I'll have people apply and not show up for interviews. I'll hire them they don't show up or they come up with some excuse and quit on me with no 2 weeks notice. I'm just wondering if there other companies having the same issue? I'm also wondering where people have been find quality caregivers? I tried Facebook, KSL, Indeed, Ziprecruiter.

    I'm so glad you posted about this, @LaDawnCareALot

     

    I've been on the other side of this scenario, trying to find care agencies when someone I loved was in need. I can tell you this, when a care business provided the right person -- it was the most valuable thing in the world. No exaggeration there at all.

    I should have mentioned that my business is in Utah. There seems to be a shortage of CNAs here.

    It's your Industry. These issues are rampant. I have Clients that are in this field (Home Instead) and the other issue, they are Too Nice, and put up with all sorts of stuff, because they are afraid of Losing the few people they have. I think that is a loop; the caregivers take advantage, borrrow money, clock in falsely, etc, and they don't get fired for it for the longest time.

     

    I recommend you approach a Vocational program in your area and your Job Service or Workforce Center; they love to work with Employers. Get in the food chain with a "back to work, displaced homemakers" program, too. Look around at Retraining programs. Have some say in How you want them trained, as well. It is the Best Partnership you can make.

     

    Bring in a certification professional for Training sessions; become a Trainer to others that need to maintain certification. That is part of Networking in your own field, and puts you in a position to know what and who and where everything is happening. Be the Big Dog in town that everyone turns to, and wants to work for.
