Hello!

I'm testing the waters to see how many of you are involved in business groups (Facebook, Reddit, Etc) and how that's affected your business decisions. I would love to join these if they are already established, and if not, see who would be interested in forming one with me. I am currently a member of @lynda11_2's Quickbooks Facebook group (which is great by the way!) but am always interested in finding more communities to interact with. While this forum is okay for discussions it seems to me that it has a long way to go before there's an active discussion daily on business strategies.

A little about me for some background information. I own a bookkeeping business that started a little under a month ago. I've been in the accounting industry for three years and started my own business because I wanted to be more involved in helping my clients business succeed. I will have been married to my beautiful wife for 2 years Nov 18 who works as a Nurse in a Women's Health Clinic. Outside of work I enjoy working in my chicken coop, reading fiction, fishing, and trying new foods. Share your business below and some hobbies you have. Look forward to some good conversation and connecting with other business owners.

Thank you for posting this @Easton at J E Cole Bookkeeping .  This is exactly the thing @ParkwayInc and I wanted to do one year ago.  A live bi-monthly meetup in this community to discuss topics QB related and business-related.  Intuit eventually passed on the idea.

Matthew and I are formulating plans in our FB Group now, QB Community Live, to do just that.  What we could not do here.  Maybe a weekly office hours or something of that nature.  Where people could jump on the zoom and ask

We believe "Together We All Succeed".

I would love to hear from other community members what they think, if there is an interest, etc. etc.

Thanks for the response Lynda! I hope it didn't bother you too much that I tagged you, figured this was something you would be interested in and looks like I was right. FB may be the best place for such a group since nearly every person is on there and active. I would love to see this community do the same but I don't see it happening any time soon. I think businesses (especially small businesses) working together to grow their businesses will play a major role in the next several years. I'm seeing more and more small businesses as well as a focus on "shopping local" in mine and neighboring communities.

    Hey Easton and Lynda.

You can count me in as someone interested in these discussions. It would be great to see something like a biweekly meeting on business topics. There are so many knowledgeable members in the Community and this would be a great way to exchange thoughts and ideas.

On Monday, @john-pero  posted an answer to a thread and discussed his agricultural background. He provided some unique insights into his thought process and approach to business. The format that you're describing could help to facilitate these types of responses.

If memory serves me correctly, @Regina_Lend_A_Hand_Accounting  also mentioned having an interest in these types of discussions.

Out of curiosity, are there any topics that you think would make for interesting discussions? We're rebuilding the Business Discussion space and would love to hear more about what you feel would be useful to people. For example, would a weekly thread to comment on be something you might be interested in? Or are you looking more for starter topics?

Lastly, I agree with both of you about the value of collaboration. Business is always changing and it's great to have places to turn for help and guidance. It can sometimes be hard to measure what a post can do for someone.

I'm excited to see what you all and other members have to say!

    David

PS: Easton, my wife is also in the medical field. They're tougher than me ;).
