I certainly know this is true.  My business has been based on this for over a decade without any website.

That was always my father's motto. He believed that good work is good business and found a lot of success along the way. The big difference between him and his competitors always boiled down to trust.  If he told a customer that they needed an expensive repair, their investment of trust in him would provide a huge ROI in quality.  I'm proud of that legacy.

I would say there is no better way to ensure your business is a success for a long time.  Discounts and deals are short-term advantages over the competition, which I rarely trust since you know they have to make up for that somehow, so I always wonder what I am being short-changed on which leads to lack of trust, which is the exact opposite of what you want, unless you are only in business for the short-term vs. the long run.
