Hello beautiful Community! You all know about our Community page, but did you know about our QuickBooks Blog? There are some amazing articles and information there on a variety of topics. You should check it out and learn something new today. :)

Today I want to highlight Andy Latkovskis article on ethics in your business. Maybe you think about ethics often or not that much. Either way, it’s a constant presence in your interactions and decisions.

This leads me to the main question: What basic ethics should be followed in your business?

1. Keep your employees happy.
This of course covers adequate pay, but there are so many other important aspects to customer employee satisfaction. Feeling valued and like they are a part of the bigger picture is just as critical as how much they’re compensated.

2. Honesty
We all have heard honesty is the best policy and it couldn’t be truer to a small business owner. Charging fair prices and being transparent with customers impacts your brand and image.

3. Be as eco-friendly as you can
This has gained more momentum and attention recently, but being aware of your impact on the environment and even sharing what you’re doing as a company to combat it, is so important and even determines a lot of customers decisions. How do you do this?

  • Set good example for your employees by upholding moral values both with them and in your business.
  • Teach employees how to interact and deal with customers, especially in tough situations. Showing that there is a two-way relationship based on trust is important.
  • Have an open door policy and encourage employees to reach out with any doubts or concerns.
