Reaching the Finish Line
Hey there, Community friends! We’re cruising right through the week, and heading towards a lovely weekend. Have you been working on any projects this week? Maybe if you're like me, you've been know to start a few projects and then sadly leave them in a corner, collecting dust, while you move onto the next one. If that sounds like you, then you'll want to keep reading. Here are a few pointers on how to finish what you start:
Be selective
Don’t just start on anything and everything. Spend your time and resources wisely. If you don’t really care about what you’re doing, you’ll likely get burnt out and leave the project unfinished.
Estimate
Speaking of time and resources - estimate what you’ll need to complete the task at hand. Once you've got idea of what you'll need to see the task through, you’ll know what to expect with little to no surprises or delays.
Quit being a perfectionist
I have to remind myself of this a lot. Whatever it is you’re worrying over generally doesn’t matter in the long run. Additionally, you’re most likely the only person who will ever notice it too!
Track progress
I love a good before and after, but the during is important too. Track it all throughout your project and celebrate what you’ve done so far!
Commit
Hold yourself accountable and to your word. You’ll feel a greater sense of accomplishment when you do get finished.
Last but certainly not least, simply follow the path of highest enjoyment. I hope these points come to mind the next time you go to tackle a project. How do you stay on track to finish the task at hand? We’d love to hear from you in the comments!
