Rebuilding your Motivation
Hello friends! Thanks for joining me in the QuickBooks Community today. Have you ever found yourself struggling to find the motivation to do your day-to-day work? If so, then you’re not alone. There are so many different factors that can impact your motivation, such as your feelings towards a specific project/task, as well as any environmental factors that may be standing in the way. Here are a few tips to help refill your motivation cup once again and get you moving in the right direction.
Take a moment to reset
Finding your motivation again isn’t as simple as forcing yourself to regain it. Your mind needs time to recenter itself so it’s important to find some time to step away from your desk or workplace and take some time to breathe in some fresh air and move your body. It can also be as simple as taking a few minutes to think about something completely different that isn’t the task at hand. Doing so will help reset your mind.
Change your Routine
It's normal to feel stuck or even drained from the same daily routines. To combat this, start small and add in one new habit or change into your routine. This can be as simple as getting up 15 min earlier or reading 10 min before starting the workday. These changes can give you some momentum and motivate you for bigger things.
Change your Environment
Is it just me or do you also struggle to stay in one place for too long? If this is you, then try changing your environment for a bit during your work day. Your physical environment impacts the way you feel way more often than you think. Something that helps me a ton, is decorating and organizing my workspace in a way that makes me feel happy. I have lots of colorful pens, sticky notes, and plants that brighten my space and bring joy into my work. Give this a try!
Remember your ‘Why’
It’s important to reconnect with what it is that you love and appreciate about your job. When you feel like you’re losing sight of this, ask yourself “How does the work that I do empower me”? Try establishing these connections with the bigger picture and your day-to-day tasks and see how this helps change your motivation towards your work.
Some other steps you can take are reaching out to a friend, reciting your go-to mantra, creating a daily list, and looking inward as to why you think this motivation dwindled.
