SEO Myths
Hello, friends. Welcome back to the Business Discussion board. I wanted to take a minute to share an article with you that I read from entrepreneur.com that discusses a few myths regarding SEO.
If you're unfamiliar, SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization, which is generalized as a set of rules used for optimizing your website so it can achieve higher rankings in search engines' organic results. The higher the ranking, the more people will view your website. Here are a few myths to take into account to hopefully make the process a bit easier.
SEO is a one-time thing
There is a common misconception that SEO only needs to be reached once. However, on the contrary, once your website reaches a higher ranking you'll need to work at keeping your placement. The article shares a link for some great practices to keep your website optimized.
Local SEO is not worth it
You may be a small business owner, dreaming of nation-wide expansion and might think reaching a local market isn't really worth it. This isn't necessarily the case. Local SEO comes into play when consumers visiting your area search, "Best ____ near me." It's in your best interest to reach your ideal client to have your website appear above the rest.
SEO means rankings
While SEO refers to how often your business site appears in searches, it goes beyond search results. If the website appears as a result but no one visits your page, it doesn't do you much good. Recognizing the wants and needs of protentional customers and providing solutions for them will keep them visiting your site, and increases your well optimized website, as mentioned before.
Repeated and lengthy keywords bring more traffic
K.I.S.S. Keep it simple, silly! While keywords can be helpful when using search engines, overloading your site with repetitive keywords can actually result in penalties from the search engine, therefore defeating the purpose entirely.
