What Employees Are Looking For
Hello, friends! Thanks for joining us here on the Business Discussion board. We know loyal customers are vital to small business, but I believe it's safe to say employees are a close second. The QuickBooks Resource Center recently featured an article that details what employees are looking for from their employers. Let's take a look...
Flexible work hours
A healthy work/life balance can be hard to come by. Flexible hours are a huge help in that aspect. As an employer you may also consider the opportunity for your employees to work remotely.
Personalized recognition
People enjoy hearing they're doing a good job. Personalized recognition for a job well done can come in many forms, and can differ depending on the work being done. A couple of ideas may include a small gift card and a thank you note showing your appreciation, or maybe an extra 30 minutes added to their lunch break.
A focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion
Also referred to as DEI in the business world, diversity, equity, and inclusion of all employees should be a top priority.
A sense of purpose
In addition to knowing they've done a good job, employees want to know the work they're doing means something. Most people look for jobs that align with their passions. One way to reflect their purpose could be to show employees customer reviews raving about how the company helped them in some way, or maybe even sharing a comment from a customer stating how helpful the employee was.
Career growth opportunities
Most people have goals to move up in their careers and reach higher levels within the company. Clearly laying out the pathways to achieve these goals keeps your employees feeling upbeat and motivated.
Check out the full article linked above for even more insight on what employees like to see from their employers. As always the comment section is open for your input; as an employee, what do you really want from an employer, and if you're an employer, what are some extra steps you take to make sure your employees are taken care of?
