I know I am not the only one who misses traveling, and it's inevitable that as the temperatures start to rise and summer starts to kick in, our minds turn to vacations.   While we are all working our way back to something resembling normal, we thought it would be fun to revisit some of our favorite vacations and share the pictures that keep their memory alive.

An Added Joy

From Morgan: This is my favorite vacation picture from my most favorite vacation so far. The photo was taken in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. This particular trip is so special to me. While a bit challenging, my husband and I braved taking our two year old to the beach for our first family vacation. The picture was taken with a camera on a tripod, it really was just the four of us. Yep, I said four! We had just found out we were expecting our second baby and nobody knew but us. I’ll always look fondly on this picture and remember the great time we had!

Family Camping

From Kiala :

Camping is a lot of work but it's such a great reset and opportunity to get away from screens and spend time outside. My kids are finally at an age where it goes much more smoothly and we love making camp fire treats and meals. Hikes, nature and hot springs are the perfect combo during the summer for my family!

Breathtaking views

From Sasha:

My favorite vacation spot would be Devil's Bridge in Antigua. It is a natural arch carved by the sea from soft and hard limestone ledges. The water is always choppy, but the sea breeze is amazing, and the scenery is breathtaking. According to legends, if you throw an egg in the water, it will come back boiled. This has yet to be proven, but maybe someday I will try it!

Too many to choose

From Lisa:  If you could see my camera roll on my cell you would shake your head and laugh.  I am one of those people who loves taking pictures.  Most of them are just for me, but when I am on vacation, I love sharing images with friends and family to let them share some of the excitement that I am feeling.   That being said, most of my vacation pictures tend to fall into a few categories, and I thought I'd share my favorites in each category.

First category - water.   What can I say? I live in the desert and I am fascinated by water.   If I had to guess, I'd say at least half of my vacation pics are of bodies of water.

This is from Erskine Falls just outside of Lorne, Australia.  It was a bit of a trek down to the base of the falls, but it was absolutely worth every second.

Second category - scenic images.

This is from a road trip a friend and I took, we were just coming back into Arizona and had stopped to fill up the gas tank and stretch our legs a bit.  As I was wandering around I happened across this tow truck parked in an empty lot just as the sun was setting.

Sometimes you just see a pretty image and want to be able to remember it.

The last category is pictures of my friends that I am traveling with.   Sometimes it's silly selfies or funny pictures as we are goofing around.  But sometimes I get lucky and catch them in moments that sum up the entire trip.  That is what happened with this one.  We were in the Scottish Highlands and had stopped for one last loch before we moved on.  Sarah was walking down to the water but I had stopped to tie my shoe and when I looked up, I grabbed my camera and took a burst of images.  This was the best of the lot and remains one of my absolute favorite pictures I've taken.

“Photography is a way of feeling, of touching, of loving. What you have caught on film is captured forever… It remembers little things, long after you have forgotten everything.”
— Aaron Siskind
