Question

Can I change the designation of the 'tracking number' box to 'commodity code' for example. I have already used my three custom fields

I’m delighted to have you here in the Community, @Coding Components Ltd.

I’ll provide some insights about adding a custom field in QuickBooks Online (QBO).

If you’re using a QuickBooks Online Advance, you’ll be able to add 12 custom fields per sales form. Otherwise, only up to 3 of them can be added.

Nonetheless, you can consider utilizing the transaction number field instead for your commodity code. Beforehand, you’ll have to turn on the Custom transaction numbers setting to add the option. Here’s how:

  1. Go to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Account and Settings under Your Company.
  3. Choose the Sales tab, and click anywhere within the Sales form content section.
  4. Toggle the Custom transaction numbers to turn on.
  5. Click Save and Done.

Once done, you’ll see an Invoice no. field on your invoice where you can enter any number format you want.

In addition, I included an article here to learn more about managing custom fields in QuickBooks Online.
