Hi Ryan,

This did not bring up the option to submit the return using a spreadsheet. However, I did manage to complete and file my return by using the "Adjust" option on the form - is this acceptable ? I would prefer to have the standard functionality of being able to extract the data from the source records and upload via a spreadsheet - any further ideas ? Thanks

Hello roisin_mc_lernon,

You'll see the "Submit with a spreadsheet " option when you've fully completed the process.

Let's check your Making Tax Digital option, and get things straightened our from there.

  1. Click Taxes.
  2. At the top, make sure you see the Enabled VAT Making Tax Digital badge.
  3. If so, you can submit your VAT return for MTD through QuickBooks.
  4. If not, please continue the process to enable. The detailed steps are found in this article: Authorise QuickBooks to interact with HMRC - MTD for small businesses.

The Adjust option is for your VAT adjustments. Thus, we don't recommend this option.

Hi roisin_mc_lernon

Have you set up MTD from within the settings? Select the cog/gear icon >Account and Settings > MTD (follow the steps to set up, learn more, MTD).

Hi - Yes - after following the steps the settings advise that I am connected to HMRC which allows me to track tax deadlines and submit returns. However, I cannot submit my return without the option to "submit with a spreadsheet" -Please advise

Hi @roisin_mc_lernon,

I have a few steps that you can try.

To rule out a possible issue with the browser, let's try using a private window.

  • For Chrome, press Ctrl + Shift + N.
  • For Internet Explorer or Firefox, press Ctrl + Shift + P.
  • For Safari, hold down Command + Shift + N.

If it works, then go back to your regular browser window and then clear your cache.

Please let us know how it goes. Leave a comment below if you have any other questions.
