Question

Has QB changed its search criteria on customers? I used to be able to search on names like 'John Smith' even if the main record was under 'Fred Bloggs Ltd'.

I searched for 'Simon' this morning. I eventually found the customer using a different method, but 'Simon' is recorded under the main customer record as a first name and wasn't found.

Hello Antonia,  If you have the display name as John Smith and the company name as Fred Bloggs Ltd then if you are in customer and use the search function or the top right of QB using the magnifying glass then it should find the customer when searching for John. Do you have the display name set to Simon?

Hi Emma,

The display name and company name is Fred Bloggs Ltd. However the customer detail name is Mr John Smith.

I can even search on phone numbers usually too or parts of addresses, but QB just recently has not come up with the names. Any advice please? Or is this a glitch?

Many thanks

Hello Antonia, Upon testing it seems the search function will only search on the display name or company name. You can still have the company name the same and change the display name to be John Smith for example. Are you finding if you change the display name to be the first name surname it then shows up in searches?
