It's nice to have you here on the Community page, @thefouldsgroup.

There are two ways to record the overpayment. You can leave it as is and apply it to the customer's future invoices, or create a refund for the overpayment.

To record the overpayment and apply it to the customer's future invoices:

  1. From the Plus (+) icon select Receive Payment under Customers.
  2. In the Receive Payment window, choose the customer's name.
  3. Under the Outstanding Transactions section, put a check-mark on the invoice you want to pay.
  4. In the Amount received field, enter the exact amount you received from the customer (including the overpayment).

If the customer asks for the refund of the amount, you can record a Refund receipt:

  1. Click on the Plus (+) icon, then select Refund receipt.
  2. Select the Customer drop-down arrow, then select the customer you want to refund.
  3. Tap on the Refund from drop-down, then select the bank you deposited the payment for the invoice too.
  4. Add all products or services the customer returned in the Product or service column.
  5. Make sure to fill the quantity, rate, amount, tax, and other fields accordingly, then select Save and close.

That should help you record the overpayment accordingly.
