Legacy editions of Quickbooks

Hi

I have used Quickbooks now for years, 2003 was the last version update I did and so have kept a machine in the office year after year solely for use with quickbooks.

During this enforced lockdown I have been updating the office, the computers, and also software used.

Now I work on macs so can run parallels with a legacy operating system such as xp to carry on running my version of quickbooks - now looking at todays quickbooks subscription offering - I have to ask is there any alternatives? I dont want help .. just want a very basic accounts program like my 2003 quickbooks that will run on modern operating systems - part of me thinks scour amazon or ebay for quickbooks 2016 - I mean thats 13 years newer than what I am used to (lol)

Or has anyone here any other thoughts or suggestions? can a one of payment be made for quickbooks?

Many thanks

There is no a one time /outright purchase license option any longer for QB Desktop UK version. You may purchase an outdated QBD UK version or switch to QBD 2020 US version with a one time license if you don't need to comply with MTD.

Where can we purchase a uk version of quickbooks pro ?  I am using 2012 and would like to upgrade?

I'll share details to help you upgrade from your current version to the latest one in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT), @Nigel C

Upgrading QBDT Pro 2012 to the latest version should be done gradually due to the significant gap between these versions. Before doing so, you can check this article to back up your file in case you encounter unexpected issues in your application: Back up your QuickBooks Desktop company file. Please note that this article is a US version but the same principles apply.

QBDT 2012 needs to be updated to the 2015 version of QuickBooks since the program only has a three-year lifespan. Once you've got your files set in the 2015 version, your next move will be to update them to the 2018 version and repeat the process until you reach QBDT 2024.

However, before installing the trial version, ensure that the system meets the proper configurations to run it smoothly.

To save time, you can contact our Customer Care Support team. A live expert can pull up the necessary tools and get the help you need.

Additionally, you can check this article and learn where to download a trial of QBDT Enterprise and for QBDT Mac: Download a trial of QuickBooks Desktop.

I'm always here if you have additional concerns about upgrading the version of your QBDT Pro. Have a good one.

Hello WebspaceUnlimited,

Welcome to the Community page,

Quickbooks 2016 was the last version that you could physically buy the license outright on, however our Sales team only sells the latest 2020 version on a monthly or annual subscription and no legacy editions.
You could certainly try and buy it from elsewhere however with it being an older version it is not something we support, especially if you are running the program through Parallels on a Mac.
If you want to keep it basic then 2016 would be your best bet, but it would have to be from an outside seller.

If you have any further questions please reach back out to us, we will be more than happy to answer them for you.

thank you both for taking the time to reply

Okay best solution for me will be the legacy edition o f quickbooks

I do have to say I don't need support (managed 20 odd years without it :)

But I do wish I could pay quickbooks direct for a copy - there is I see the option for a download from quickbooks but I do need a license and key - so looks like Facebook, eBay etc are where I am going to have to go hunting for those

Many thanks

what has been neglected to say here is the update of the company file

despite buying an unused 2013 version I can't use my 2003 company file as it needs converting to 2013 compliance - there is in 2013 a link to the quickbooks site for an online tool - this has gone - so speaking with quickbooks support it has been a case of stone walling - thee is no support for products older than 3 years and that I have to update to subscription

I wonder have any members of the community found a 3rd party company file conversion tool online?
