Question

There's a bug in QBO Rules editor. When you edit a rule, mostly QBO shows the category that was assigned previously, but sometimes it's blank. Anybody else seen this?

If you set the category to what it was before and save the rule, it still shows blank when you re-open it. The rule APPEARS to work ok (only followed through one example). But when you're editing the rule how are you supposed to know if the category is correct? Bad enough with just one category, a nightmare if the rule has a complex split. Quickbooks, when are you going to fix this?

Hello there, @giftaid.

Thank you for taking the time to post in the Community. Let me share some solutions so you can get rid of it in QuickBooks Online.

I've checked here and haven't found any similar issues reported by other users. For now, I suggest performing some basic troubleshooting steps to help isolate and fix the problem.

Here are the keyboard shortcuts to open a private browser:

  • Google Chrome: press Ctrl Shift N
  • Mozilla Firefox: press Ctrl Shift P
  • Microsoft Edge: press Ctrl Shift P
  • Safari: press Command Shift +N

If it works, I suggest you proceed with clearing the cache. There are times that the browser is loaded with too much data and cause issues when using QuickBooks.

For additional reference, I've attached some articles you can use in navigating QuickBooks:
