Why do I have to logout and in to get update to recognise I am pressing the update button and it should activate.

It sounds like there may be some browser issues affecting your QuickBooks performance, I'd be grateful if you could follow our guide to clear the cache and cookies on your browser and then fully close/open your browser before signing-back in.
