And got the message from QB Desktop File Doctor:
We couldn't fix your company file (screenshot attached).

Hello there, @passworddude. I'm here to share additional troubleshooting steps to resolve Error Code H202 in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

I appreciate all the fixes you performed to resolve the issue. Error H202 indicates that something is preventing multi-user from connecting to your server.

If you haven’t already, allow QuickBooksDBXX and QBCFMonitorService admin permissions on your server computer. Visit this article for the instructions: Set up folder and Windows access permissions to share company files.

Moreover, ensure that your server computer lets QBDT through your firewall.

  1. First, set up Windows for firewall exemptions
  2. Once done, open QBDT on your workstations.
  3. Go to File and click Switch to Multi-user Mode.

For more troubleshooting options, please see this article: How to fix Error H202 and H505.

Additionally, there are three hosting modes set for each version of QBDT and for each computer. To learn more, refer to the Hosting Modes section in this link: Hosting your company data in multi-user mode in QuickBooks Desktop.

Hi @JaeAnnC

Thank you for your reply. Yeah I tried the below and still no luck.

Also, what could be the reason when QB File Doctor also not able to fix company file?

This will occur if the server QB Database Manager is not the same version as the QB Desktop.

My client is based entirely in QB 2022 Accountant.

She has a big client she accesses remotely with QB 2023 Premier.
This has run slowly, but reliable for a long time.

Her big client moved their QBW 2023 file to her Server running QB 2022 database manager.
After jumping through all the troubleshooting hoops for H202 errors, I guessed the 2022 DB manager was the root cause.

Indeed it was.

I upgraded the QB Database Manger on the Server to 2023, and multi-user mode now works correctly
I'm posting this here, in hopes Intuit tech support will add this to their comprehensive H202 troubleshooting document.
