Problems by connecting UPS with Shipping Manager (QB Desktop Enterprise)

Hello Community,

we want to use the shipping manager in Quickbooks Desktop Enterprise.

We have never used the Shipping Manager. Now we would like to integrate UPS.

After we have accepted the terms and conditions and entered all our data, the error message appears:

Oops! Something went wrong...

Account registration failed

PostalCode and/or CountryCode input does not match those associated with the AccountNumber [9570103

The Postalcode and the account number definitely match. We have also tried it with our second account. It doesn't work with that either.

Do you have any tips for us on how we can solve this problem?

Thank you very much for your help!

I appreciate the effort you've made in attempting to resolve this issue, Markus, like trying with a second account and providing a screenshot. I'd be glad to guide you on where to find the best help available to successfully integrate UPS in your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Since you have verified that the account's postal code and account number are accurate, I recommend contacting UPS customer support for specialized assistance. They are well-equipped to provide comprehensive guidance and help troubleshoot the error message you're encountering, ensuring the seamless integration of UPS within the system.

Moreover, for additional information on the steps and frequently asked questions about UPS, please feel free to explore this article: Intuit QuickBooks Shipping Manager.

UPS states that QB is using an outdated version of Ship Rush and that QB needs to update it.

We are currently in the process of switching providers for our shipping functionality, @TheSound. I'll explain more information below.

The reason why you are seeing this error because UPS no longer supports the Shipping Manager software currently in QuickBooks. As a result of this switch, we will have a new system for managing shipping, called the Shipping Manager, which will be available starting in May. If you have not set up shipping with your carrier yet, you will not be able to do so until the new system is launched in May. You might also start seeing pop-up messages in QuickBooks about this upcoming change.

For more details about the new and improved shipping experience in QuickBooks Desktop, refer to this article: Get ready for a new shipping experience in QuickBooks Desktop.

For now, if you need to generate shipping labels, we recommend doing so directly through the UPS website.

Additionally, consider updating your QuickBooks Desktop to the most recent version in order to access the latest features and product enhancements.

Let me know in this thread if you have any questions about the shipping manager in QuickBooks Desktop. I am here to provide assistance and address your concerns effectively.

It appears that UPS has stopped supporting the Shipping Manager add-on because they had not updated since 2011, and was using insecure communications.  The error that I started getting Monday for missing password indicates that UPS is expecting OAUTH level communications and Quickbooks didn't invest in time.  It took me 15 hours of debugging, multiple calls, rebuilds, etc to get a straight answer from Intuit.  No, they didn't fess up to the OAUTH, insecure communications, part above.  But a conversation with UPS made this clear.

All users on Desktop can no longer ship via UPS from desktop until they fix this problem.  Unless somehow they prevented updates from QB.

As a general comment, I would caution anyone considering using QUICKBOOKS desktop to rethink this.  I don't think Intuit is ready to admit this, but the age of this product has probably made continued support extremely expensive.  They have likely shifted all investment to their online product and will milk desktop as long as they can.  I believe this because I was the Product Manager of an IBM product what was being milked but not reinvested in.  Frustrations like this are likely to grow as their technical debt continues to grow.

Thanks for confirming that the new module has not yet been released. We are still using Enterprise v2022 and have avoided recent maintenance updates on three of our workstations after discovering the UPS issue on two PCs that accepted updates. We will be forced to move to v2024 by the end of the month which will cause those remaining workstations to also lose UPS functionality. I was hoping to hear that the new module was already working in 2024. Your comment confirms that it apparently has not been released.

As you described, trying to get information was (and continues to be) extraordinarily frustrating. I also initially spent three days on the phone going back and forth between UPS and Intuit. UPS high-level tech support finally shared with us an article explaining issue. Trying to get updates out of Intuit has continued to be ridiculously frustrating. At this point, I just with that they would postpone the forced v2022-2024 upgrade until the UPS module was functional.

Okay. I found a SUPER simple resolution. After you enter the account nickname, account number, zip code, and country - the next pop up is the log in page to allow ShipEngine access. Do not enter your email. Maximize the pop up and click on the "Log In" button in the upper right hand corner of the window. Enter your UPS or UPS My Choice username and password.

This worked for me after hours of scouring the webs for fixes. I updated Quickbooks Desktop (2024), changed crazy registry keys, tried running as Admin.... you name it. This was my last ditch effort before going Office Space on our PC. Thankfully, it was spared the baseball bat.

That sounds hopeful!

But what release are you running? The fields you described aren't the same as what we are seeing with Enterprise 2024 R14P.
