Question

2021 T4's not calculating boxes 57-60

The 2021 T4's are not automatically calculating boxes 58-60, they are showing zero.

I am getting a pop up that says 'We've updated QB calculated amounts for Box 57-60 in T4 forms' when I go in to review the T4's.

I know last year there was an update for this in Feb2021. Do we need to wait for a fix again this year?

I am running Premier Accountant 2022 desktop

Thanks for any help!

Hi there.

Thanks for reaching out here.  QuickBooks Desktop Premier Accountant edition is a dynamic product for accomplishing your daily goals with confidence.  It's important that Box 58-60 is calculating correctly on your end and I'll be glad to share more info so you're on the right track.

I'd suggest contacting us so we can look at this with you independently to ensure a positive outcome.  In the meantime, you may benefit from this article on How to edit COVID-related boxes on the T4 slip.

Please don't hesitate to reach back out with any other questions.  We'd be happy to help!

Your suggestion is not helpful. I did call and was on the phone for 2 hours and was told there isn't an update for Quickbooks Accountant that will auto fill boxes 57-60 on the 2021 T4s

January 10, 2022

Did you get the auto fill to work on the 2021 T4s?

January 10, 2022

No, I have still not got them to auto fill. I am going to contact CRA to get confirmation on whether or not they require that info for 2021, that's the only thing I can think to do at this point. Super frustrating

January 10, 2022

I think CRA would require boxes to be filled as there was still wage subsidies for those periods.

Quickbooks was no help, I was on the phone for 2 hours and he finally told me they have not updated the software to autofill for 2021

January 10, 2022

After chatting with QB online chat, this is what they told me.

"Thanks for waiting. Upon reviewing my resources I found out that Box 57 - 60 should be blank for this year in T4 form. Those boxes in T4 form is for wage subsidy for the year 2020 ONLY. This should be blank for year 2021 onwards."

January 13, 2022

I just did a webinar with Revenue Canada and it was confirmed that boxes 57-60 DO need to be completed for 2021 T4s.  Mine are also blank.

January 13, 2022

CRA has confirmed that these boxes need to be filled out, but have not announced what the date ranges are for each box.  Presumably, they will change based on CERB periods they wish to track.

I am calling Quickbooks right now to see if I can get some answers.

January 14, 2022

Calling Quickbooks was a total waste of time.  However, I did make a call to CRA and the very helpful and knowledgeable lady advised me that Boxes 57-60 are only on the T4 slip to be used for 2020 (for those who need to produce the previous year T4).  These Boxes DO NOT need to be completed for the year 2021.

Hi, there.

I contacted CRA and these boxes are for 2020 only. Here is th elink:

Here is the excerpt:

Codes 57 to 60
