The employees are currently inactive on payroll when I entered the code for no Canadian Dental benefit deducted.

Hello hhyatt,

Welcome to Community!  The new Dental Plan code will appear in Box 45 on the T4 slips, once all employee profiles have been updated. To ensure a positive outcome, you'll need to make any inactive employees active again.  Proceed to enter the code and select Done to save the information. Once you've completed this process, box 45 will be visible on the T4 slips.

Follow these steps to enter the codes;

1. Navigate to Payroll, then Employees

2. Select the employee to expand their profile

3. Click on Edit, in the Deductions/Contributions section

4. Use the ▼ dropdown menu next to Employer-offered dental benefits, then select the appropriate code

4. Hit OK to save.

You can proceed with creating the T4 slips and summary

If you experience the same outcome, please contact our QuickBooks Online Payroll specialists outside of Community.  They will have the ability to work with you in real time, and ensure your T4 slips are accurate without delay!
