Box 82 on T4 summary

It's important that you ensure all the details shown on your employees T4 slips and the T4 summary are accurate. QuickBooks Desktop makes it easy to amend the amounts on the T4 slips so that your summary gives the values you're expecting. Let me help you out.

The T4 Summary is prepared if you haven't EFILED your T4 slips directly through QuickBooks. The summary is a total of the amounts on all T4 slips that you've prepared. It also adds up the deductions and taxes that were withheld from your employees. You won't be able to edit the T4 Summary directly, but you'll be able to make edits to the T4 slips. If the amount for Box 82 isn't appearing on your summary, it's likely that the amounts weren't entered in the slips so you'll have to sort that out first.

Here's how you can amend your T4 slips:

1. From the Process End of Year Forms page, click Amended as the form type.
2. Choose the employees whose slips you need to amend.
3. Hit Review.
4. Double-click Box 82 to make corrections.
5. Enter the corrected amount and the reason for the correction, then be sure to hit OK.
6. Once complete, select Next to move to the next slip or OK if you're finished. 

You'll need to provide your employees with the amended version of the T4 slips so that they have the most up-to-date form. Once you've finished making the amendments to the T4 slips, you'll be able to easily prepare an accurate Summary. If that's not the case and you're still unable to populate the correct amount for Box 82, it's important that you Contact Us outside of the Community.
