Question

Can anyone tell me why I can't adjust my sales tax filing? When I follow the directions to do an adj, it shows up in the acct history, but it won't change the amt to pay.

This is a payment we have already made, so I can't just go with what the books say to pay.

Hi there deanna-francoeur,

Thank you for contacting us regarding your tax return. QuickBooks Online is a tool that can help you with tracking the tax on your sales and expenses so that you know the amount to report to the government. I can point you in the right direction for help with editing a return.

A tax adjustment can be made on an open filing, so the filing in question would need to be canceled, and then you can edit it, and mark it as filed once more. Only an accountant user can follow these steps to cancel a sales tax return by following the steps in the related article. If you want to invite your accountant to see your QuickBooks account, you can go to the My Accountant section. You can also find an accountant near you by clicking on the Find a Specialist option to help you without this section.
