Question

Can I change the period after payroll run

I have submitted my payroll for the first time in QBO and realized that the future period was selected by default as I submitted on the 1st day of the month. Is it possible to recall or change the period and pay dates after submission. The scheduled payment date is 25 days later.

Hi @GeeKay1 , welcome to the community , we're happy to have you.

You'll have to void or delete the paycheck and then recreate it with the correct paycheck date. If you process payroll through Direct Deposit, you can still cancel it before 5:00 p.m. and 2 banking days before the paycheck date you accidentally entered.  On the other hand, if you manually processed the check, you can delete and recreate it anytime.

Here's how to delete a paycheck:

  1. Log in to QuickBooks Online.
  2. From the Workers or Payroll menu, select Employees.
  3. Below the Run Payroll button, click Paycheck list.
  4. Select the paychecks to void or delete.
  5. Click Void or Delete.
