How to deduct overpaid hours from employees pay?

Hi bstdenis-medagro,

 

Welcome to Community!  QuickBooks Online Payroll understands that these things happen from time to time.  You can apply a deduction to the upcoming pay periods.  I'd be happy to show you how!

 

First, you need to create a deduction payroll item;

 

1. From the left menu, open Payroll, then Employees

2. Select the employee from the list

3. Hit Edit to the right of Deductions & contributions

4. Click + Add deduction/contribution

5. Select a Deduction/contribution type 

6. Enter a Description

7. Choose whether you want the deduction to be calculated as a Flat amount or Percentage of gross pay. Then, enter the amount or percentage.

8. Hit Save, then Done.

9. On your next payroll run, make sure to review the paycheck before approving it.
