Question

Can you set up separate company divisions under the main registered company? I.e. Company Ltd. is main, then wants to set up Company Ltd. Water Division?

Essentially this would all run from the same main company bank account, but perhaps you want to do certain services from different company divisions.

Hi jesse-swat-contr,

Welcome to Community.  It's great to hear that your main company also consists of separate divisions, for which you're looking into bookkeeping options that benefit your business needs..  QuickBooks Online has some valuable features to help you reach your goal.  You can use Locations for tracking sales, purchases and profitability by business location.  This feature's available in QuickBooks Online Plus.

Here's how you can review and upgrade your current subscription if needed:

1. Click on the Gear in the top right and go to Account and Settings

2. Select Billing and Subscription from the left menu

3. Review your current subscription and click Upgrade

You'll need to turn on location tracking in your settings.  Here's how:

1. Click on Settings ⚙, in the top right, then select Account and Settings

2. Choose Advanced

3. In the Categories section, select the Edit ✎ icon

4. Select the checkbox to Track Locations

5. Hit Save, then Done.

You're ready to add a location by following these steps:

1. From the Gear icon, select All Lists

2. Choose Locations

3. Click New and add the name of the location you want to track

4. Select Save and Close when finished

Should you need to edit, delete or make a location inactive, go to:

1. The Gear icon, top right

2. Select All Lists and then Locations

3. From the  ▼ drop-down menu in the Action column, choose Edit or Make inactive

4. When complete, hit Save or Yes

For future reference, here's an article to setup and use Locations.  In addition, you'll also benefit from this article for assigning transactions to locations and bank accounts.
