Hi there usermaritza,

It's important that all your customers, supplier, and employees are set up properly in your books for all transactions to be balanced. QuickBooks Online is a great tool able to keep track of transactions so that you can see the financials of your business. I can provide some information about employees and suppliers.

There isn't a way to edit an employee to have a supplier type, so it would need to be made inactive, then recreated. Before making the employee inactive, the name would need to be changed, as no two employees, suppliers or customers can have the exact same name. You can do so by going to the Payroll tab, then the Employees section. Click on the name of the employee in question, then Edit. You can edit their name in the personal information section. Once done, you can delete the employee using these steps:

  1. Go to the Payroll menu, then go to the Employees tab.
  2. Click the name of the employee.
  3. Select Edit employee.
  4. At the bottom, choose Delete employee.

After Deleting the employee, you can then create the person as a supplier by going to the Expenses tab, then Suppliers. Click New, then enter their information.
