Question

Converted to QB Online late 2019. Recon. Histor Data still shows -9.02 under EI ER. Think this was late fees pd in Sage, but QB thinks we overpaid. How do I clear this?

Since this was in last year's year-end which has already been completed, I am not sure how to fix.

Hello nancy40,

Glad to learn you've been using QuickBooks Online for over a year now. QuickBooks makes managing your books an enjoyable experience. I'll be glad to steer you towards the right path so you can focus on what you love.

In order to avoid any discrepancies in your books, I highly suggest reaching out to an accounting professional. If you're not in contact with one, I encourage you to search for one on our website using this link here. Since the transaction in question is in last year-end. You may need to unreconcile the transaction first then edit it.

Here are the steps to unreconcile individual transactions in QuickBooks Online:

  1.     Select the Gear icon on the Toolbar.
  2.     Under Your Company, select Chart of Accounts.
  3.     Locate the appropriate account for the transaction.
  4.     From the Action column, select View Register (or Account History).
  5.     Identify the transaction to edit.
  6.     In the reconcile status column (indicated by a check mark), repeatedly select the top line of the transaction to change the status of the transaction.

Codes indicate the status of the transaction:

  •         C - Cleared
  •         R - Reconciled
  •         Blank - Not cleared or reconciled

    7. Select Save.

Keep in mind that all in order to unreconcile bulk transactions, you'll need to do that using QuickBooks Online Accountant as this feature is exclusive to that version. Otherwise,  you'd have to individually unreconcile the transactions using the steps I've provided above.

Let me know if this info helps. I'll be here in case you need anything else. Otherwise, I wish you a prosperous 2021 for you and your business.
