Do you have to have the correct bank account type set up on a new employees record for direct deposit to successfully occur - Never changed the default from Chequing befo

We have used the correct institution / transit / account number but QB says bank account is unknown.

It's important that all your information is correctly entered for your employees' pay to be accurate. QuickBooks Online Payroll is a great tool able to help you calculate and pay your employees for the hours they've worked for your company. I can point you in the right direction for assistance with adding your bank account for payroll.

 

If you're having trouble entering your company's bank account for payroll, I recommend contacting your bank to confirm that your Institution, transit and account numbers are in fact correctly entered. If you're still getting errors, then I recommend reaching out to the QuickBooks Online support team outside of the Community for further assistance. They'll be able to view your account with you in a secure setting to best assist in getting your account ready to pay your employees through direct deposit. Schedule a Callback or start a Chat: click (?)Help in the upper right > type and enter "Contact support" into the QB Assistant > click Contact Us > explain your situation > click Let's Talk > choose Get a callback or Start a Chat.
