Does an employee have to be active in order to use workforce to get their T4

Welcome to Community!  QuickBooks Online Payroll has everything you need to pay your staff with confidence.  Payroll forms are available with easy access to submit or send to your employees.  I'll be happy to provide more information so you're able to complete your payroll goals!

 

Although you wouldn't have the option to send a T4 to an inactive employee through Workforce, you could save the form to your computer and email it to the employee as an attachment.

Is this still the case?  It seems very inefficient considering the turn over rate in many workplaces.  And, email is not a secure means to send such information.  CRA now requires the employee's permission before you email a T4.  Any update would be appreciated.  Thanks!

Hi RioBravo,

 

Thanks for joining us here.  To ensure accuracy on the T4 slips in QuickBooks Online, the employee needs to be active.  This will also enable the forms to be sent to your employee's Workforce account, so they can obtain it for their records.  However, you can view archived T4 slips and download them, or print them.  By printing them, you can mail a copy to the employee.  If you would like to see additional options, please feel free to submit a suggestion to the QuickBooks Development Team.
