Question

Employee moved provinces during year, how to prepare separate T4 for each province?

Hello,

One of our employees moved from Ontario to Alberta during the year.

How can I prepare multiple T4's for the employee per province? When I go to prepare T4's I am not able to adjust all of the boxes, only the earnings/deductions.

When changing the tax table in QB, it suggests to create a new employee profile for them, but then we would have duplicate employees with the same name. Also they have already been earning and paid income since their move, so how can I just prepare separate T4's for this employee within quickbooks without having to make multiple profiles?

Thank you,

Adrian

Hi Apodkos1,

Being able to create T4s is essential to ensure that the employees have their statement of remuneration paid to the CRA. QuickBooks Desktop is a powerful program that offers the possibility to generate the T4's for your employees. I'll be glad to help you with this.

At the moment, QuickBooks doesn't offer the option to create multiple T4's at once for an employee with different provinces. You'll need to manually create the T4's for that employee at this time. A possible workaround would be to create the T4's at the time the employee changing provinces. This would be a great question to consult with your accountant to ensure how this needs to be recorded. If you don't have an accountant, you can refer to this article to find one.

Also, if this is an option you'd like to be included in QuickBooks Desktop, you can send us a feedback by clicking on Help tab at the top right> Send feedback online Add product suggestion. This is sent to our developing team  in the back end to consider for future updates.

Let me know if you have any questions, I'll be happy to help.
