Question

employee time sheets and rostering

I wonder if anyone can help me as quickbooks do not know anything about their own system.

We have 25 employees who clock in and out against their rostered times. however, they do not clock in and out for breaks, but they do not get paid for them

so a few problems.

1. When we approve time sheets, no break is deducted from their hours

2. if they come in early or leave the building late ( shift finish) the system does not timesheet the rostered hours ( which is what we pay ) but the actual time  for eg, 9-5 is 8 hrs but if they clock in 8.45 and out at 5.45  this adds this time to their sheets and we would pay them for this

we need to be able to make sure the hours on roster are complete and that they are paid for the rostered time deducting breaks,  for those who are salaried we just need them to

Hi Craig Walker,

Making sure your staff is paid accurately is a good way for preventing errors in your books. It's vital you're able to get the assistance you need and I'd be happy to help you get back on track with your timesheets.

If you're using weekly timesheets, the total number of hours worked in a week by your staff is entered and using single timesheets allows you to enter the time based on a single day or event. Based on what you've described, using single timesheets would be most appropriate in your situation. Here's how you can setup single timesheets on your account:

Enter a single time activity timesheet. For weekly timesheets, check out this article here
