How can I record a partial payroll tax payment? I have an overdue amount from a payroll period in 2019. I have setup a payment plan with CRA but how do I record a payment for partial payment? There will be a total of 4 equal payments to pay off the balance, and interest. When I go to the payroll tax tab and try to enter a payment, it won't let me change the payment amount?

Hi there,

It's great to hear that you've got a plan worked out with the CRA for taking care of your payroll liabilities. I want to make sure you can record this correctly in your books so that you don't have to worry about these details moving forward.

QuickBooks Online's payroll modules are set to pull details from what's calculated within the module and there currently isn't a way to record partial payments. For that reason, it'll take finding a workaround to best record this information, and knowing more about your specific situation will help us with determining the best course of action for you.

The interest payments will likely be taken care of as expense transactions outside of the payroll module since that's a penalty on top of the original payments being sought. For the overdue amount, however, we'll need to explore the options a bit more. An agent can help you do that.
